Forum on Information Technology (FIT) is a joint conference of two major societies in Japan in the field of IT. These societies, IPSJ and ISS IEICE agreed to build a comprehensive partnership. As a concrete action plan, the first joint conference was held in September 2002 in Tokyo as FIT. It was one of the biggest conference in this field in Japan. FIT will be held in the autumn every year.
Previous to the conference, a contest was run to adopt a logo for FIT. Forty-three works were applied for the contest. And my work above won the contest.
This logo is basically designed with an acronym for Forum on Information Technology. By replacing ‘I’ with an exclamation mark, it emphasizes the impact and the importance of FIT. Concentric circles centering on the dot of the exclamation mark implies the way of being for FIT that it constantly transmits information to the world. The circles also expresses the image of “FORVM” as the Latin etymology of forum, insisting FIT as the place researchers and engineers on information technology gather in.
