Yoshiaki Takai was born in 1960.
He is currently a Specially Appointed Professor of Information Initiative Center, Hokkaido University.
From 1988 to 1989, he was a Research Associate of the Faculty of Science, the University of Tokyo.
In 1989, He joined the Faculty of Engineering, Hokkaido University. From 2003 to 2024,
he was a Professor, and from 2011 to 2019, a Director of Information Initiative Center, Hokkaido University.
His research interests include parallel and distributed processing, computer networks, augmented reality,
virtual reality, physically-based modeling, and computer graphics applications.
He received B.Eng. in electronic engineering in 1983, and M.Eng. and D.Eng.
in information engineering in 1985 and 1988 from Tohoku University.
He is a member of IEEE, IPSJ, and IEICE.
